Book ‘Alger Paris – Affaires toxiques’ sheds light on the successive crises of the Algerian regime

An investigative earthquake hits the Palace of El Mouradia: A French book exposes the failings of the Algerian regime
At a sensitive time marked by unprecedented tensions in relations between Paris and Algiers, observers of the Maghreb are awaiting the release of a new investigative work in the French capital titled “Alger Paris – Affaires toxiques” (Algiers-Paris: Toxic Affairs). The work, to be published by the prestigious “Stock” publishing house, is the result of a joint effort by French journalists Christophe Dubois and Marie-Christine Tabet. It promises to open thorny files that the Algerian regime has long attempted to obscure behind slogans of fake diplomacy.
Years of investigation expose the corridors of Algerian power
According to technical data released by the publisher, this publication did not emerge from a vacuum; it is based on years of investigative work, delving into hidden backstage dealings and scrutinizing previously unpublished documents. Most controversially, the authors rely on a vast network of live testimonies—about 100 statements from ministers, diplomats, intelligence officials, and political refugees. This documentary and human repository will shed light, according to the stated themes, on the hidden conflicts within the circles of power in Algeria, the activities of the security apparatus belonging to the Algerian regime on French soil, as well as human rights files related to Algerian dissidents, the case of writer Boualem Sansal, the migration dossier, and the French stance opposing the claims of the El Mouradia Palace regarding the Moroccan Sahara issue.
A history of tension and real fears within the ‘El Mouradia gang’
This is not the first work by the Dubois and Tabet duo in this field, as they previously published a book in 2015 titled «Paris-Alger, une histoire passionnelle», exploring the political, security, and economic dimensions of the ambiguous bond between the two countries. However, this new release comes at a time of extreme regional and diplomatic tension, which multiplies its potential impact and repercussions on the image of the Algerian regime abroad. In his reading of this anticipated event, Algerian dissident Oualid Kebir did not hesitate to express the panic dominating decision-making circles in Algiers, stating that the book “will shake the foundations of the ruling gang.” While the full contents and precise documents remain subject to its official release, indicators confirm that the Algerian regime is facing a new dilemma that will put its practices and backstage power dealings under the microscope of international public opinion.
