Human Trafficking Plot Foiled: Three Foreign Nationals Arrested on the Outskirts of Agadir

Details of the Operation at the Royal Gendarmerie Checkpoint

Elements of the Royal Gendarmerie operating at the judicial checkpoint at the motorway entrance in Amskroud, east of Agadir, arrested three individuals of Senegalese nationality on Wednesday, on suspicion of their involvement in activities related to organizing irregular migration and human trafficking.

Attempted Bribery Exposes the Network’s Plot

According to field reports, the case began when a Gendarmerie patrol subjected a vehicle carrying the suspects to a routine inspection. Attempting to avoid a search and verification of the vehicle’s cargo, the passengers tried to offer a sum of money as a bribe to the patrol members, which raised the officers’ suspicions and prompted them to intensify the search measures.

Seizure of Advanced Equipment for Illegal Migration

A thorough search of the vehicle resulted, according to the same sources, in the discovery of boats and advanced logistical equipment, likely intended for preparing illegal migration journeys from the coasts neighboring the city of Agadir.

Legal Procedures Underway

Following the operation, security services transported the suspects to the headquarters of the Gendarmerie’s judicial center, while seizing the vehicle and the equipment found inside. The suspects have been placed under judicial investigation measures under the supervision of the competent Public Prosecution, with the aim of deepening the investigation and determining the potential reach of this network, ahead of their referral to justice once the applicable legal procedures are concluded.
