Agadir boosts security readiness with the launch of a specialized explosives unit

In a strategic move aimed at enhancing field presence and security readiness, the Agadir police prefecture officially began the activation of a regional brigade specialized in explosive techniques on Thursday, August 27. This initiative is part of the ongoing modernization of security services in the Souss-Massa region, intended to keep pace with rapid developments and ensure the protection of citizens and property.

Specific tasks and advanced equipment

The core tasks of the new unit focus on precise intervention in situations requiring high technical expertise, particularly when dealing with suspicious objects or explosive materials. The role of this unit is not limited to field intervention but extends to supporting judicial investigations and securing large events that attract massive crowds in the region.

To ensure maximum effectiveness, members of the brigade have undergone intensive training covering both theoretical and practical aspects of handling explosives, with a focus on complex field scenarios. The brigade has also been equipped with a sophisticated logistics arsenal, including equipped vehicles for transporting and storing intervention gear, as well as advanced technical and information systems that facilitate the work of security personnel and accelerate their response times.

Strategic expansion at the national level

This step comes as part of a gradual approach adopted by the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) to generalize regional brigades specialized in explosives across the Kingdom. This policy aims to bring specialized security expertise to all regions and ensure rapid response in emergencies, thereby raising the level of security vigilance in the Souss-Massa region, which has become a key hub for hosting major sporting, artistic, and economic events.
