Benkirane: Exclusion of talent is the reason for the slowdown of the Marchica project

Benkirane sparks controversy over the fate of the major “Marchica” projects
In a move that has shed new light on one of the most prominent development projects in the Oriental region, Abdelilah Benkirane, Secretary-General of the Justice and Development Party, has directed sharp criticism at the way the “Marchica” lagoon development project in Nador province is being managed. This came during a large public meeting in the Bouareg commune, where Benkirane focused on what he described as a “stagnation” in the execution process of this strategic workshop.
“Political calculations” and their impact on development
The former head of government considered that the project, which was expected to be a locomotive for economic and tourism development in the region, has become a victim of “narrow calculations”. Benkirane explained that the timing of the project’s launch and the political affiliations that accompanied its early stages negatively affected the institutional support it deserved, emphasizing that the project did not receive the necessary accompaniment to achieve the ambitions of the local population.
Exclusion of talent.. a “painful blow” to the project’s future
In addition to the political aspects, Benkirane revealed what he described as dangerous data regarding the administrative and human side within the development agency. He pointed to a systematic operation of excluding talents and experts who had accompanied the project from its beginnings, to replace them with names imposed by new political balances. According to the speaker, this disregard for technical expertise had a direct impact on the pace of work, contributing to the slow completion and the project’s deviation from its set goals.
Marchica.. an outstanding development bet
This political debate reflects the discontent that has begun to surface regarding the stumbling of some components of this huge project. The Marchica lagoon, thanks to its natural and geographical qualifications, is considered a promising investment hub that should not be affected by political wrangling. At the end of the meeting, voices were raised demanding the necessity of shielding major development projects from partisan conflicts and accelerating the pace of work to ensure its positive reflection on the daily life of the residents of Nador province and the region as a whole.
