Morocco strengthens flood risk prevention with a new innovative national plan

Morocco is preparing to strengthen its preventive measures in managing flood risks, in light of the increasing exposure to extreme hydrometeorological phenomena that are now imposing themselves on the environmental and climate agenda.
National awareness and training plan
In this context, work is underway to develop a national awareness and training plan regarding flood risks. This initiative aims to create an effective mix that combines raising awareness among local populations with strengthening the capabilities of public administrations and territorial communities alike.
Pilot areas and intervention mechanisms
According to the announced data, the new plan includes testing intervention mechanisms in five pilot areas to improve field response. It should be noted that these measures are supervised by the Directorate of Research and Planning, in a continuous effort to improve the risk management system associated with extreme climate fluctuations.
