Royal Air Maroc to deploy high-speed Starlink internet on 41 aircraft starting 2027

A new step for digital service development at Royal Air Maroc

In a move aimed at improving the passenger experience and enhancing digital services on board, Royal Air Maroc is preparing to integrate high-speed internet via the Starlink system into its aircraft fleet.

Fleet equipment schedule and service launch

The national carrier announced that, starting in 2027, it will begin equipping 41 aircraft in its fleet with Starlink‘s satellite internet technology. According to the company, the service will gradually be extended to the rest of the fleet at a later stage.

Free Wi-Fi for loyalty program members

According to the information revealed by the company, Wi-Fi service will be available free of charge to members of the Safar Flyer loyalty program. This service will allow passengers to stay connected during flights and use the internet in real-time—including streaming, communicating, and working—thanks to Starlink’s high-speed, low-latency satellite system.

African leadership and official statements

By adopting this technology, Royal Air Maroc stated that it will become the first airline in Africa to offer Starlink internet connectivity. The company’s CEO, Hamid Addou, emphasized that the agreement reflects the organization’s commitment to providing a travel experience that meets international standards, as part of a wider fleet modernization and cabin renewal program. Lauren Dreyer, Vice President of Commercial Operations at SpaceX, noted that this technology integration is a major milestone for the aviation sector in Africa.

Responding to the growing demand for in-flight internet

This initiative comes in response to the increasing demand for in-flight internet services, particularly from business travelers, the Moroccan diaspora, students, and tourists visiting the Kingdom.
