Spanish media reports, citing the newspaper «La Verdad de Ceuta», revealed that Spanish authorities in the occupied city of Ceuta began, on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, the first operation for the expulsion of migrants who arrived in the city following the wave of mass entry witnessed at the end of last July.

Transfer of 51 Algerian migrants to the Iberian Peninsula

The same sources explained that the operation involved 51 Algerian citizens who were present in Ceuta before the events of last July. They were subjected to the legal and administrative procedures in force in the Kingdom of Spain. Those concerned appeared before the guard court in Ceuta before the decision was made to transfer them to the Iberian Peninsula, a procedural step that usually precedes their final expulsion from Spanish territory.

Regularizing the status of migrants in the temporary shelter center

These migrants were staying at the Temporary Shelter Center for Immigrants (CETI) in Ceuta, where they had been waiting for the completion of administrative procedures related to their legal status. This move comes in the context of measures taken by Spanish authorities to address the repercussions of the mass crossing attempts in Ceuta at the end of July, aiming to regularize the legal situation of the migrants who arrived at the center.
