Morocco moves toward manufacturing IRIFI attack drones in partnership with a French startup

According to media reports citing data from developers, Morocco is moving toward manufacturing «IRIFI» attack drones in partnership with the French company «Harmattan AI». This autonomous aerial system is designed to strike distant targets, unlike traditional drones typically limited to reconnaissance and surveillance missions.

According to the developer’s specifications, the maximum range of these drones is approximately 2000 kilometers. They fall into the category of single-use weapons, meaning they are launched for a single, decisive strike mission without returning to base. The drone uses an internal combustion engine and is launched from mobile platforms designed within containers, facilitating easy transport and deployment in the field.

Technically, the «IRIFI» system relies on integrated navigation, sensing, and data processing. These technologies enable the drone to continue its mission even under conditions of electronic jamming or loss of communication, while reducing reliance on GPS. Additionally, the drone utilizes visual guidance techniques to assist in targeting accuracy during the final stages of the attack.

According to the design, these features allow for targeting military sites, logistical facilities, and other strategic objectives at vast distances. However, the developer has not yet disclosed details regarding the payload, warhead weight, flight speed, or operational altitude.

Despite the system’s full autonomous flight operation, the manufacturer confirmed that the processes of target selection, operation approval, and the final launch authorization remain subject to direct human decision-making before the drone carries out the pre-programmed path.

In the absence of full technical specifications and independent field test results to verify its operational performance, the 2000-kilometer range remains the most prominent technical data available regarding these attack drones to date.
