The administration of the Tamesna Local Prison has broken its silence to refute a series of allegations circulating on social media and websites regarding the imposition of disciplinary measures described as “cruel and humiliating” against minors detained in the context of what has become known as the “Gen Z protests.”

Categorical denial of allegations regarding solitary confinement

In an explanatory statement, the prison facility emphasized that reports regarding the placement of these juveniles in solitary confinement for up to three months, or the imposition of arbitrary restrictions on family visits, are “baseless.” The administration clarified that laws governing penal institutions strictly prohibit placing minors in disciplinary cells.

Confusion between cases and clarification of facts

The same source stressed that there is a deliberate or unintentional confusion between the case of the 16 “Gen Z” juveniles, who have not displayed any disruptive behavior within the facility, and other juvenile detainees involved in general criminal cases who had previously caused damage to prison equipment.
