Tamansourt Gendarmerie apprehends wanted suspect who used ‘Pitbulls’ to resist arrest

Service weapons end the stand-off of a wanted criminal on the outskirts of Marrakech
In a precise and highly professional security operation, elements of the Royal Gendarmerie from the Tamansourt judicial center, supported by the regional intervention squad from Bab Doukkala, were forced to discharge their service weapons on Friday, September 4, to neutralize a suspect who posed a direct threat to the lives of both security personnel and civilians.
Details of the confrontation in the ‘Belakid’ area
The incident began when a joint security team cordoned off the ‘Ouled Berhoum’ (Belakid) area in the Ouahat Sidi Brahim commune of Marrakech, intending to arrest the individual, who was a high-priority security target due to multiple outstanding arrest warrants for serious crimes. Upon realizing he was cornered, the suspect refused to comply and reacted with extreme aggression.
Informed sources reported that the suspect incited two ferocious ‘Pitbull’ dogs against the law enforcement officers while brandishing large melee weapons to prevent the gendarmes from approaching, triggering a state of maximum alert in the area.
Security resolve to protect lives
Faced with this dangerous escalation and violent resistance, the Gendarmerie had no choice but to use their service weapons in a precise, controlled manner to neutralize the threat. Warning and directional shots were fired, allowing them to subdue the suspect without causing serious injury to law enforcement or civilians, leading to his arrest as local residents watched.
This intervention is part of the intensive efforts by the Marrakech regional Gendarmerie command to eradicate crime and apprehend wanted individuals who threaten public safety. The detainee has been placed in custody under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor to uncover all the facts and crimes attributed to him before he is brought to justice.
