Crackdown on ‘cocaine’ gang in the heart of the M’hamid district in Marrakech

Targeted operation ends activities of a criminal network in Marrakech
As part of the continuous efforts made by security services in Marrakech to combat criminal activities, the second anti-gang brigade of the judicial police in Marrakech successfully dismantled a dangerous criminal network late Thursday night. The group was actively involved in the distribution of hard drugs in the M’hamid area of the Menara district.
A well-executed ambush leads to the arrest of four suspects
According to available information, this successful security operation was based on precise investigations and tracking of the network members’ activities. This enabled the brigade to set up a tight ambush that led to the arrest of the four suspects in flagrante delicto, in possession of approximately 150 grams of hard drugs. A thorough search also resulted in the seizure of a significant amount of money, believed to be proceeds from the sale of narcotics that this network was pushing among the region’s youth.
Investigations underway to uncover the network’s reach
Following their arrest, the suspects were taken to the judicial police headquarters and placed in police custody under the direct instructions of the competent public prosecutor. The ongoing judicial investigation aims to uncover all aspects related to this case, determine the individual responsibilities of the detainees, and dismantle potential extensions of the network to reach the main suppliers. This action reflects the vigilance of security services in protecting Marrakech’s neighborhoods from the spread of illicit substances.
