Oujda puts final touches on the launch of the massive Central Market project

A turning point in Oujda’s commercial landscape

The eyes of Oujda’s residents are turning toward Allal El Fassi Street, as the Kingdom’s eastern capital prepares to launch an ambitious development project: the construction of the new Central Market. This vital facility, supervised by the local development company “Oujda Animation et Développement,” aims to strengthen the city’s commercial infrastructure with a modern vision aligned with hygiene and health safety requirements.

Project details and timeline

A total budget of approximately 35.3 million dirhams has been allocated to this project, with a construction timeline of 14 months. The project specifications include a comprehensive package of equipment, from major structural work to advanced technical systems such as elevators, fire protection systems, and sophisticated lighting and electrical networks, ensuring operations meet the highest standards.

Diverse facilities and smart services for a comfortable shopping experience

The market has been designed as an integrated space serving both professionals and consumers, featuring 65 fishmonger stalls and 52 butcher shops, equipped with anti-slip flooring and advanced drainage systems to ensure maximum hygiene. Beyond food retail, the market offers 29 diverse commercial shops and six restaurants on the upper floor, making it a major commercial and tourist attraction for the city.

Innovative solutions for mobility and ventilation

To address traffic and congestion issues, the project design includes two underground levels dedicated entirely to parking, equipped with camera surveillance and advanced ventilation systems. Once completed, this project is expected to provide a significant boost to the local economy of Oujda, offering an organized and safe commercial environment that contributes to enhancing the quality of services provided to citizens.
