A special explosives brigade begins operations at the Agadir Police Prefecture

Strengthening proactive security in the Souss-Massa region

As part of its strategic plan to modernize infrastructure and enhance operational capabilities, the General Directorate for National Security (DGSN) gave the green light on Thursday, August 27, 2026, for the official commencement of the Regional Explosives Brigade (Brigade Régionale des Artificiers) at the Agadir Police Prefecture.

Strategic objectives of the new brigade

The creation of this specialized unit is part of a comprehensive vision aimed at security decentralization, through which the Directorate seeks to bring advanced technical services closer to all regions. The unit aims to handle risks related to explosive materials and objects with a high level of professionalism, through proactive and technical interventions based on human expertise and state-of-the-art equipment.

Developing field competencies

This initiative is part of a long series of structural programs adopted by the Moroccan security institution to ensure maximum readiness against various security challenges. The new brigade has broad authority for field intervention and the execution of scanning and neutralization operations, which will contribute directly to raising the level of protection and risk prevention in Agadir and its surrounding areas.

Addressing contemporary security challenges

The establishment of this brigade is not merely an organizational measure, but an operational response to the urgent need to strengthen technical security capabilities. The unit will operate under the supervision of staff intensively trained in handling hazardous materials, while adhering to international safety and security standards, thereby enhancing the Agadir Police Prefecture’s ability to confront current and future security challenges with high efficiency.
