Spanish national wanted internationally arrested in Tangier

As part of the ongoing efforts by Moroccan security services to combat transnational crime and apprehend individuals wanted internationally, police officers from the Tangier Prefecture succeeded yesterday, Thursday, October 8, 2026, in arresting a 45-year-old Spanish national.

Suspicion of illegal stay and international arrest warrant

According to available information, the individual had been residing illegally on Moroccan soil before field investigations and intelligence led to locating and arresting the suspect in Tangier. A check of the suspect in the database of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) revealed that he is the subject of an international arrest warrant issued by Spanish judicial authorities.

Applicable legal procedures

The detained Spanish national has been placed in police custody under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, pending judicial proceedings, in order to take the necessary legal measures applicable in such cases related to extradition and international security cooperation.
