Joint security operation brings down suspect
Elements of the Judicial Police in Casablanca, in close coordination with the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST), apprehended an individual on Tuesday evening, October 6th, suspected of involvement in a case of fraud, swindling, extortion, and impersonating a public official.
Criminal method based on impersonation
According to preliminary investigative data, the suspect had been posing as a judicial official working in Casablanca. Investigations indicate that the suspect utilized this false identity to target victims for fraud, as well as blackmailing them to extract significant sums of money.
Confiscated items and digital evidence implicate the suspect
The search conducted following his arrest resulted in the seizure of several pieces of evidence, including professional uniforms, badges, and forged judicial documents. Authorities also discovered a photograph of the suspect wearing a judicial uniform, along with a laptop and a computer CPU believed to contain digital footprints confirming his involvement in these criminal activities.
Deepening the investigation under the supervision of the Public Prosecutor
The suspect has been placed in police custody pending the judicial investigation overseen by the competent Public Prosecutor’s office. These measures are aimed at uncovering all the circumstances and background of the case, as well as determining any further extensions of this criminal activity and identifying all potential victims.
