Criminal network specializing in drug trafficking along the Chichaoua highway dismantled

Details of the security operation near Chichaoua

The Judicial Center of the Royal Gendarmerie in Chichaoua has successfully put an end to the activities of a criminal network involved in drug trafficking. This operation was based on precise intelligence regarding the transport of a drug shipment from the northern provinces toward the province of Chichaoua.

Ambush at the highway interchange

According to available data, the Royal Gendarmerie set up an ambush at the Chichaoua highway interchange, where a light vehicle used for clandestine transport was intercepted, carrying two men in their forties. Investigations revealed that the suspects were awaiting the arrival of the drug shipment to hand it over to a third accomplice active in the Mzoudia region.

Significant seizure and dismantling of the network

Field investigations led to the identification and location of the third suspect. Following a raid on his home, the operation resulted in the seizure of significant quantities of Chira (cannabis resin), in addition to further quantities of cannabis and raw tobacco.

Legal proceedings

The three suspects have been placed in police custody for further investigation under the supervision of the competent Public Prosecutor. Following the completion of legal procedures, they were brought before the Prosecutor at the Court of First Instance in Imintanoute, who ordered their detention at the local prison of Loudaya pending trial.

This operation is part of the intensive efforts by the Royal Gendarmerie in the province of Chichaoua to clamp down on drug trafficking networks and monitor the routes used to distribute illicit substances.
