Security alert: 41 illegal migration candidates apprehended on the coasts of Dakhla

Ongoing security vigilance on the Dakhla coast
As part of the continuous efforts made by security services, elements of the Auxiliary Forces managed, at dawn this Sunday, September 13, 2026, to thwart a new attempt at irregular migration in the “Playa Aïcha” area, located approximately 69 kilometers north of the city of Dakhla.
Operation details and seizures
The field sweep operation resulted in the apprehension of 41 candidates for irregular migration who were preparing to cross to the other shore. The intervention also led to the seizure of an equipped inflatable boat, in addition to quantities of fuel estimated at about 300 liters of gasoline, which were prepared for use in the illegal journey.
Context of security operations in the region
This security measure comes in the context of strengthening coastal surveillance in Morocco and tackling networks involved in organizing clandestine sea crossings. Local authorities and Auxiliary Forces are intensifying their patrols in vital areas and routes that might be exploited by smugglers or migration candidates, in order to ensure the security of maritime borders and reduce the risks associated with these unsafe voyages.
