Territorial authorities regulate the electoral competition ahead of the campaign launch
In a proactive move to ensure that the legislative elections scheduled for September 23, 2026, take place in an atmosphere of transparency and integrity, the Walis of the regions and the governors of the provinces held a series of direct meetings today with the representatives of the candidate lists. This action comes on the eve of the election campaign, with the aim of reminding political actors of the legal and regulatory provisions that govern the democratic process.
Full commitment to the provisions of the organic law
The meetings focused on reviewing the details of Organic Law No. 53.25, which introduced substantial amendments and additions to Organic Law No. 27.11 regarding the House of Representatives. The territorial authorities emphasized that these provisions constitute a fundamental and non-negotiable reference, essentially aimed at framing partisan work and ensuring that candidates respect the rules that protect the integrity of the competition.
Field meetings to ensure equal opportunities
At the Casablanca-Settat regional level, Wali Mohamed Mhidia chaired an expanded meeting with list representatives, candidates, and regional secretaries of various political bodies, following the closing of the candidacy filing period. This meeting served as an opportunity to emphasize the need for strict adherence to the rules that guarantee equal opportunities among all competitors.
Strict rules for electoral propaganda
The directives provided by regional authorities covered various details of practice during the campaign period, from advertisements and leaflets to the organization of marches and the use of loudspeakers. Territorial officials affirmed that the ultimate goal of these controls is to protect the freedom of voters, preserve the integrity of the electoral process, and prevent any irregularities that could affect the credibility of the race for Parliament.
