Mauritanian activists and journalists hint at confrontation with Morocco over Lagouira

Social media platforms, particularly “X” (Twitter), have recently seen the circulation of tweets from certain figures in the southern neighborhood containing theses deeply rooted in ignorance of reality and history, even fantasizing about a confrontation regarding the Moroccan region of Lagouira. These reckless statements clearly reflect their authors’ disconnection from the simplest geographic and geopolitical facts.

History is unforgiving and sovereignty is constant. Historical data and documented oaths of allegiance indicate that Mauritania itself was historically under Moroccan sovereignty. How can those suffering from such a severe deficiency in reading archives dare to dream of appropriating a precious part of the national territory like Lagouira, which remains Moroccan land from father to son?

The Sahara file is settled on the ground. All those who hope for hypothetical scenarios ignore that the issue has been definitively resolved on the ground by the strength of diplomacy, the rigor of the military, and the comprehensive development dynamic led by the Kingdom in its southern provinces.

Playing with the big leagues has its rules. Morocco has taken giant, advanced steps in military industrialization and deterrent capabilities, armed with advanced kamikaze drones, Apache helicopters, and next-generation fighters, while the region’s armies suffer from clear field fragility in the face of accelerating security challenges.

The caravan moves forward with steady steps, while these childish outbursts and imaginary tweets remain nothing more than empty talk in the digital void, which only reinforces the Kingdom’s overwhelming superiority and its regional position as an undeniable pillar of stability.
