Alarm bells ringing: Moroccan doctors warn of diphtheria resurgence and stress importance of vaccination

Doctors and health experts have raised the alarm following signs of diphtheria cases emerging in the country, prompting intensive scientific efforts to determine ways to contain the disease and curb its spread before it worsens.
In this context, participants at a scientific seminar held via video conference on Wednesday emphasized that vaccination remains the primary and most effective means of preventing this disease and protecting citizens from its serious health repercussions.
The scientific meeting saw broad participation, organized in partnership between several specialized scientific associations and two key government sectors: the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, and the Ministry of National Education, Preschool, and Sports. This reflects the comprehensive approach required to address this public health development.
During the discussion, speakers stressed the necessity of strengthening health communication mechanisms and educating families on the importance of adhering to the national vaccination schedule, as it acts as the first line of defense to ensure herd immunity and eliminate any possibility of the return of infectious diseases that were previously under control.
