Pink October campaign in Oujda mobilizes to raise awareness about early breast cancer detection

On the occasion of the international Pink October month, dedicated to breast cancer awareness, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection has launched a large-scale national campaign for awareness and screening for breast and cervical cancers. This national campaign continues throughout October under the slogan “Your health is your capital… Prevention and early detection are your guarantee”, with the aim of establishing a culture of prevention and encouraging early access to diagnostic services.

Involvement of the University Hospital Center in Oujda

Locally, the Mohammed VI University Hospital Center in Oujda is strongly committed to supporting this national campaign through its communication programs and initiatives. These awareness activities aim to highlight the risks of breast and cervical cancers and to promote healthy behaviors based on prevention and regular medical follow-up.

The women concerned undergo precise examinations based on strict scientific criteria regarding age and medical history to determine the most appropriate treatment path.

Cervical cancer indicators in Morocco and the Oriental region

Regarding cervical cancer, data (GLOBOCAN 2024) indicate that about 2,228 new cases were recorded in Morocco during 2024, representing about 8.3 percent of total female cancers.
