Fraud network posing as officers dismantled in Marrakech

Police officers from the Marrakech Security Prefecture arrested two individuals, aged 33 and 66, on Tuesday, October 6. Both suspects have extensive criminal records and are suspected of involvement in a case of fraud and impersonation of public officials.

Criminal modus operandi based on impersonation

According to available information, the criminal modus operandi involved the suspects posing as security personnel and officials from a scouting organization. They targeted shopkeepers to carry out acts of fraud and extort significant sums of money under the pretext of collecting donations for the children of the mentioned organization.

Arrest in flagrante and seizure of forged documents

The suspects were arrested in Marrakech while in the act of committing these crimes. Search operations led to the discovery of a forged association card, as well as a logbook and fake receipts used for collecting donations, along with a sum of money and various bank transfer records suspected to be proceeds from these criminal activities.

Judicial investigation under the supervision of the Public Prosecutor

In accordance with the instructions of the competent authorities, the suspects have been placed in police custody to facilitate the judicial investigation conducted under the supervision of the relevant Public Prosecutor. This investigation aims to uncover all the circumstances, facts, and backgrounds of this case, determine the full extent of the criminal acts attributed to the individuals, and potentially identify other possible victims.
