Updates on the Direct Housing Support Program: Key amendments to final sale timelines

The regulatory framework for the Direct Housing Support Program has undergone a new amendment, primarily concerning the deadlines for completing the acquisition of state-subsidized housing, following the publication of the new regulatory text in the Official Gazette.

According to official data in Decree No. 2.26.578, published in the Official Gazette on October 1, 2026, this text amends and supplements the previous Decree No. 2.23.350 dated November 15, 2023.

The decree regulates the direct support granted by the State to citizens for the acquisition of housing intended exclusively for primary residence. The new amendments mainly concern the timeframe granted to beneficiaries to finalize the deed of sale and the procedures for mortgage release.

This regulatory adjustment is part of the ongoing implementation of the Direct Housing Support project, aiming to clarify administrative and contractual procedures related to subsidized housing acquisition, ensuring a smooth process and accounting for the conditions surrounding real estate transactions between the involved parties.
