Saudi Arabia officially accuses Houthis of attacking power station supplying the Prophet’s Mosque

Official coalition accusations regarding the attack on the Taiba station

The Saudi-led coalition in Yemen announced on Thursday that investigations conducted by competent authorities concluded that the Houthi group was involved in planning and executing an attack targeting the ‘Taiba’ power generation station in Medina.

The spokesperson for the coalition forces stated that the attack was carried out using a drone, occurring at 05:11 AM on Tuesday, September 29.

Material losses and condemning reactions from the Gulf

According to the same source, the attack resulted in one of the electrical transformers going out of service, noting that the targeted station is considered a vital facility that ensures energy supplies and lighting for the Prophet’s Mosque.

In the context of official reactions, the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council expressed his strong condemnation of the attack, stating that targeting an electrical facility serving the Prophet’s Mosque represents a provocative act against the sentiments of Muslims around the world.

Houthi position on the accusations

In response, the Houthi group was quick to deny any responsibility for targeting the power station in Medina. The group’s ‘Saba’ news agency cited a military source in the Ministry of Defense claiming that the accusations issued by the Saudi side are baseless.
