Arab Barometer reveals decline in belief in male superiority in political leadership in Morocco

Significant shifts in Moroccan awareness regarding political leadership
Results of a poll conducted by the «Arab Barometer» center in 2025 show that only about 47 percent of Moroccan citizens still believe that men are better than women at political leadership. This indicator recorded a notable decline of ten percentage points compared to the results recorded in the previous poll during the 2023-2024 period.
Decline in dominance of family decisions and traditional outlook
In the same context, the results of the ninth round of this field survey revealed a decrease in support for the idea that men should have the final say in family decisions, settling at 44 percent. This marks a significant drop of 17 percentage points compared to previous periods, reflecting gradual transformations in the social and cultural structure of Moroccan families.
Stable support for equal opportunity in the job market
On another note, the same data showed that 64 percent of the survey participants supported equal opportunities for women and men in the workplace, the same percentage recorded in the previous poll, highlighting the stability of awareness regarding the importance of professional gender equality.
Survey methodology and target group
It is noteworthy that this survey included a sample of 1,210 Moroccan citizens distributed across the twelve regions of the Kingdom. The face-to-face interviews were conducted during the period from August 23 to September 6, 2025, with a margin of error of three percentage points.
