Amara emphasizes from Zimbabwe that productive investment and decent work are the foundation of sustainable African development

A common African vision for inclusive growth and decent work

Abdelkader Amara, current president of the Union of Economic and Social Councils and Similar Institutions of Africa (UCESA) and president of the Economic, Social and Environmental Council (CESE), presented in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, the Union’s vision aimed at achieving inclusive growth based on productive investment and decent work.

A statement issued by the CESE indicated that Amara outlined these guidelines during the opening ceremony of the Global Summit on Inclusive Growth, Decent Work and Investment Promotion, where he led an important delegation representing the Union, in response to an official invitation from Mr. Edgar Moyo, Chairman of the Tripartite Negotiation Forum in Zimbabwe.

Broad institutional participation and prominent Moroccan presence

The same source clarified that UCESA participated actively in the work of this international meeting as a key partner, benefiting from the presence of several member institutions, particularly the economic and social councils of Morocco, Mali, Equatorial Guinea, Congo, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The Economic, Social and Environmental Council of the Kingdom of Morocco also ensured the involvement of several prominent partners in the fields of innovation, inclusive finance, and agricultural development in this continental initiative.

Decent work at the heart of development policies

During the inaugural session, chaired by the Vice President of the Republic of Zimbabwe and acting president, Mr. Kembo Dugish Campbell Mohadi, Amara highlighted that decent work must remain at the core of development policies, with investment more strongly directed to support economic transformation and promote competitive African enterprises capable of creating value within the continent.

Based on the Union’s reference documents, such as the African Pact for Sustainability and the African Advocacy for Climate Action, Mr. Amara called for building more integrated and resilient African economies, emphasizing the need to valorize resources, invest in skills, and support entrepreneurship.

Appreciation of the Moroccan experience and regional cooperation prospects

On the sidelines of the summit, the Vice President of the Republic of Zimbabwe received the Moroccan official Abdelkader Amara, during which the Zimbabwean side praised the contributions of UCESA and the CESE of the Kingdom of Morocco to the success of the summit.

The Zimbabwean official also noted the Moroccan experience in strategic sectors such as industry, agriculture, innovation, and infrastructure, calling for strengthening cooperation and the exchange of best practices between the two countries, with a view to consolidating the foundations of regional integration and sustainable development on the continent.
