Security Vigilance in El Jadida Foils 4-Ton Hashish Smuggling Attempt

Major operation dismantles international drug smuggling network near El Jadida

As part of the ongoing efforts by Moroccan security services to combat international narcotics and psychotropic substance trafficking, the National Brigade of Judicial Police, in close coordination with the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST), dealt a severe blow to a criminal network on Tuesday evening, September 22.

Field operation details

According to available data, the operation conducted in the outskirts of El Jadida, in cooperation with the Royal Gendarmerie, successfully thwarted a record smuggling attempt of hashish totaling 4 tons and 631 kilograms. The operation was made possible thanks to precise intelligence provided by the DGST, followed by extensive field sweeps using advanced logistics, including trained police dogs and drones for surveillance and pursuit.

Suspect arrest and ongoing investigation

Security elements successfully surrounded and arrested the suspect as he attempted to flee in a rural area near El Jadida, while driving a utility vehicle loaded with 118 packages of hashish. Upon his arrest, the individual was placed in police custody under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor to deepen the judicial investigation, uncover the national and international extensions of this criminal network, and identify other potential partners and contributors to this operation.

Continuous security strategy

This operation is part of the intensive security strategy adopted by the DGSN and DGST to tighten the grip on international smuggling networks attempting to exploit road networks and rural areas to transport contraband, confirming the readiness and vigilance of the Moroccan security services in protecting the national territory from the scourge of drugs.
