Families of diabetic children in Casablanca break their silence to demand missing insulin

Ongoing suffering for families of diabetic children in Casablanca
Many families in Casablanca are living in an alarming situation due to the interruption in the supply of insulin pens for children with diabetes, a crisis that began last July. This situation has forced families to turn to private pharmacies, despite the high costs that are unaffordable given their socioeconomic status.
Insulin: A vital necessity that cannot be delayed
In consistent statements, parents of children with type 1 diabetes emphasized that insulin is the cornerstone for the health stability of their children. The affected families pointed out that the absence of this medication in health centers forces them to borrow money or seek aid to secure the daily doses needed for their children to continue their schooling and daily lives without serious health complications.
Calls for support for celiac patients
In addition to the insulin crisis, families highlighted the suffering of children with celiac disease, who face challenges associated with the skyrocketing prices of gluten-free food products. The families demanded the need for real support mechanisms that provide these materials at subsidized prices across all Moroccan cities and towns, alleviating the financial burden on households supporting more than one affected child.
Protest for the right to treatment
To express their dissatisfaction with this situation, these families held a peaceful protest urging the competent health authorities to intervene urgently to restore the availability of insulin pens in health centers and ensure their consistent supply. The protesters also voiced their frustration regarding the lack of modern technical means to monitor blood sugar levels, asserting that the ultimate demand remains the right to treatment and stable living conditions for children.
