Deadline for time change in Morocco and implementation of GMT

Morocco prepares to return to Standard Time (GMT)

The Kingdom of Morocco is preparing to return to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), in accordance with the legal provisions in force in the country regarding the regulation of official time. According to the announced data, this operation is being carried out in implementation of the decree regulating official time, which means taking measures to delay the currently adopted time.

Time change date in Morocco

The time change operation is expected to take place in the early hours of Sunday, September 20, 2026. This process will be applied by delaying the clock hands by a full sixty minutes, as it will be one o’clock in the morning when the clock strikes two.

Legal context of the time change

This step comes as a continuation of the periodic procedures adopted by the Kingdom of Morocco regarding the transition between daylight saving time and official time. The goal of this measure is to return to GMT, the time that the Moroccan authorities have been accustomed to adopting during specific periods of the year, in compliance with the legislative texts that regulate national time and ensure its alignment with the general context.
