Following the ‘Moul El Khiar’ Scandal: Fake Cameroonian Doctor Performing Glute Injections Sexually Abuses Hundreds in Algeria

Judicial investigations reveal misconduct by foreign ‘cosmetic surgeons’ in Algeria

The Algerian judicial scene has seen widespread developments this week following the opening of cases involving foreign nationals posing as cosmetic surgeons. Court sessions in Oran revealed shocking details regarding illegal practices within the cosmetic health sector.

Case details: Impersonation and immoral practices

Investigations revealed that a Cameroonian national, who called himself “Ahmed Hamri” and claimed to be part of the Algerian diaspora in France, performed complex cosmetic procedures without any legal qualifications. Court reports indicate that the defendant performed surgeries using leeches and expired medical supplies. He also faces charges of using his premises for prostitution and selling illicit videos to foreign websites, with a large number of estimated victims.

Public health risks

Public health experts, including Reda Malki, warned of the grave consequences of these practices. Malki emphasized that the use of unsterilized medical tools, such as the reuse of injection needles, sharply increases the risk of transmitting deadly diseases like HIV and gonorrhea. He noted that this phenomenon reflects serious oversight failures in certain sectors.

Expansion of the phenomenon: The Batna case

The transgressions are not limited to the “Oran doctor”; authorities in Batna province announced the arrest of a 41-year-old Syrian national involved in practicing massage therapy without a license. Hidden recording devices were found inside massage and sauna rooms, along with expired sexual enhancement drugs and stamps belonging to fake institutions, fueling concerns about organized networks exploiting legal loopholes.

Warnings regarding the phenomenon

Experts have concluded that the proliferation of foreign “cosmetic doctors,” who lack the academic training required for such specialized fields, poses a significant challenge. Experts are calling for strict monitoring of centers offering cosmetic services and are urging citizens to be aware of the dangers of following cosmetic offers that lack scientific or legal basis, to avoid irreversible health and social complications.
