Criminal gang terrorizing money transfer agencies in Tangier dismantled

Precise security operation ends criminal activity targeting money transfer agencies in Tangier
Elements of the Prefectural Service of the Judicial Police in Tangier successfully ended, on Wednesday, September 16, the activities of two individuals suspected of involvement in thefts targeting money transfer agencies in the city, as part of security services’ efforts to combat crime in all its forms.
Background and arrest details
The details of this case date back to the reception by National Security services in Tangier of two official complaints regarding the theft of two money transfer agencies, which occurred separately on August 31 and September 5. Immediately upon receiving these reports, specialized security teams conducted intensive field investigations and technical research that ultimately enabled them to accurately identify the suspects.
Based on this data, security elements conducted a raid and arrested the individuals involved in the “Al-Jirari” neighborhood in the Beni Makada area, a location that served as a key point in recent security operations to apprehend the suspects.
Seizures and judicial investigation progress
The search operation carried out at the suspects’ residence resulted in the seizure of a set of tools likely used in carrying out these operations, including two mobile phones, a medium-sized bladed weapon, and a motorcycle, believed to have been used to facilitate movement and escape after committing the criminal acts.
Security services have decided to hold the suspects in police custody, at the disposal of the judicial investigation conducted under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office. This investigation aims to uncover all circumstances surrounding this case, determine the potential extensions of this criminal activity, and verify whether the suspects have been involved in other similar operations in the city of Tangier.
