Fouzi Lekjaa reveals the secrets behind joining the ‘PAM’ and puts an end to political speculation

Decisive positions within the ‘PAM’
In a notable move, Fouzi Lekjaa, Minister Delegate in charge of the Budget and member of the Political Bureau of the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM), chose to break his silence to address the many questions surrounding his new political path. This came in a comprehensive interview with Jeune Afrique magazine, coinciding with preparations for the September 23 elections.
Lekjaa and Mansouri: A ‘fraternal’ relationship far from competition
Lekjaa denied any conflict or leadership rivalry between himself and the party’s National Coordinator, Fatima Ezzahra Mansouri. He stressed that their relationship is based on “great friendship” and “brotherhood,” noting that Mansouri was one of the key figures who encouraged him to actively engage in the party’s political process. He explained that Mansouri’s comments regarding “discipline” were made in a specific context and cannot be interpreted as a sign of internal conflict.
Reasons for the absence from Berkane’s candidacy
Regarding the controversy over his decision not to run in his electoral district in Berkane, Lekjaa confirmed that he never announced his intention to run there. He explained that his connection to the city goes beyond parliamentary representation to include developmental, economic, and sports initiatives. He also cited an organizational and social reason, noting his wife’s candidacy as the head of the party’s regional list, affirming his principled refusal to have more than one family member on the lists to ensure a diversity of skills and balanced territorial representation.
Strong response to Talbi Alami and the ‘FIFA’ debate
In a direct response to the political sparring with the National Rally of Independents (RNI), specifically the statements by Rachid Talbi Alami regarding “FIFA rules” and political nomadism, Lekjaa categorically rejected dragging the international football institution or national team players into internal political disputes. He asserted that athletes like Achraf Hakimi and Yassine Bounou are national symbols who should not be involved in partisan rivalries, especially given the strategic partnership between Morocco and FIFA in preparation for the 2030 World Cup.
Towards a political approach based on programs
In concluding his remarks, Fouzi Lekjaa stressed that his current focus is on preparing a party election program that meets the aspirations of citizens and strengthens the national economy. He called for elevating the political discourse to focus on choices and programs, rather than personal bickering.
