Wide-reaching reshuffle affects 7 security officials across the Kingdom

A new dynamic within the Moroccan security institution
As part of the General Directorate for National Security’s (DGSN) strategy to inject new blood into various leadership centers, the Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance, Abdellatif Hammouchi, conducted a wide-reaching reshuffle on Wednesday morning, affecting seven security officials in strategic positions at both the central and regional levels.
Redistribution of responsibilities in strategic cities
This move comes in the context of the security leadership’s commitment to enhancing field effectiveness and keeping pace with current security challenges. The new appointments involved significant movements in vital cities; for instance, the former Prefect of Police of Tangier has been transferred to the central administration in Rabat to assume the role of Director of Public Security, a pivotal position in the structure of the DGSN.
Objectives of the new security reshuffle
Available data indicates that these appointments did not stop at Tangier but included changes in security leadership in Al Hoceima, Safi, Berkane, and Saïdia. These changes occur within the framework of continuous performance assessment, ensuring the rotation of responsibilities, and strengthening coordination between central and decentralized services across the Kingdom’s provinces. These high-profile appointments aim to raise the level of security vigilance and develop field intervention mechanisms, serving the National Security strategy to protect citizens and property, and reinforcing the concept of “security governance” implemented by the Director General in managing this sensitive public utility.
