Lekjaa from Berkane: Budget availability does not necessarily mean project completion

Lekjaa clarifies points regarding budget and sectoral decisions

During a major party rally in Berkane, Fouzi Lekjaa, Minister Delegate in charge of the Budget, sought to clarify the nature of his governmental duties, emphasizing that his direct responsibility is limited to the management of state finances, while denying responsibility for decisions made by other ministerial sectors. This clarification came in the context of the wide controversy surrounding sheep imports, which had placed him in the spotlight recently.

The deadlock of public projects: a dilemma to be solved

Lekjaa addressed the issue of stalled development projects, citing the case of hospitals that have been under construction for over ten years without being completed, despite the availability of allocated funding. He affirmed that an abundant budget is not a sufficient guarantee for timely execution, highlighting administrative and management obstacles that hinder the pace of work.

Call to leverage the tourist potential of the Oriental region

Regarding the Oriental region, Lekjaa expressed surprise at the weak tourism development, despite the area’s natural and strategic advantages, ranging from Saïdia to Nador, Marchica, and Al Hoceima. He called for the effective exploitation of these capabilities to create regional added value, while questioning why many vital projects remain “on the shelves” for years.

Berkane rally: massive turnout

It is noteworthy that the party gathering saw a record attendance of over 3,000 people, forcing organizers to limit access for safety reasons, reflecting the high level of public engagement with the issues raised by Lekjaa in his speech.
