The city of Larache was shaken this Friday morning by a painful human tragedy, following the drowning of two children while swimming at the rocky Al-Ghadira beach, leaving the local population in a state of sorrow and grief.
Recovery of one child’s body and ongoing rescue efforts
Teams from the Civil Protection managed, in the early hours of the morning, to recover the body of the first child, who was rushed to the morgue of the Lalla Meryem provincial hospital in Larache to conduct the necessary medical autopsy and clarify the circumstances of the incident.
Technical difficulties hinder search for the second missing child
In the same context, the efforts of the rescue teams, supported by divers and advanced logistical means, including jet skis, are continuing at full speed to search for the second child who remains missing. Intervention teams face significant field challenges, foremost among them the strength of the sea currents and the rocky nature of the beach, which complicate the task for divers to reach deeper areas.
This tragic incident renews warnings about the dangers of swimming at unsupervised beaches or those characterized by rocky terrain and strong currents, especially in light of the weather changes that the region may experience during this period.
