Lekjaa sends a fiery message to the government: Meat prices are a red line

Lekjaa places “daily living” at the heart of the political debate
In a field visit with strong political implications, Fouzi Lekjaa, Minister Delegate in charge of the Budget and a prominent leader of the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM), emphasized the need to reorient the compass of political action toward the real concerns of the Moroccan citizen. Lekjaa affirmed that the coming phase requires greater “pragmatism” in dealing with the issues that weigh on Moroccan families.
“160 dirhams for meat” .. an indicator of political failure
Lekjaa did not hesitate to raise the issue of the rising cost of living, citing the price of meat, which has reached record levels (160 dirhams), as a stark example of the reality to which political actors must respond seriously. In this context, Lekjaa explained during a meeting with his party’s base that electoral processes should not turn into a mere struggle for seats, but should be a venue for a real debate on concrete solutions for purchasing power.
Call for renewing party discourse
Lekjaa issued an explicit call to his party’s leaders and officials to go out into the field and listen to the pulse of the street, stressing that political work in contemporary Morocco cannot be viable unless it directly touches the citizen’s future. Observers believe these statements reflect a new trend within the government coalition to adopt a discourse closer to the concerns of the vulnerable and middle classes, who are exhausted by the high cost of living.
This move comes at a time when the PAM is betting on regaining the trust of voters by adopting a language of frankness and acknowledging the economic and social challenges that hinder regional development, while asserting that political practice is the only way to find practical solutions for market and price crises.
