In a move aimed at strengthening the ranks of the Moroccan national team with promising talent, national coach Mohamed Ouahbi has begun a field tour of European stadiums, with his first stop at the Johan Cruyff Arena in Amsterdam. This step is part of the serious preparations for the upcoming period, ahead of the announcement of the final national team squad that will compete in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Abdellah Ouazane steals the spotlight in Ajax clash
While scouting the match between Ajax Amsterdam and Swiss side FC Sion in the Conference League, the national coach had the opportunity to observe young Moroccan talent Abdellah Ouazane. The 17-year-old delivered a stellar performance, effectively contributing to his team’s 5-3 victory by providing two assists, making him one of the stars of the match and achieving the second-highest rating of 8.9 points.
Intensive preparations before the Gabon and Lesotho matches
These field visits are part of a technical strategy to assess the readiness of Moroccan professionals with their clubs at the start of the new football season. Through this tour, Ouahbi aims to evaluate the level of the national players to ensure high competitiveness before the start of the continental qualifying journey; the “Atlas Lions” are preparing to face the Gabon national team on September 25th, followed by a meeting with the Lesotho national team on the 29th of the same month.
