As the date for the legislative elections scheduled for Wednesday, September 23, 2026, approaches, the Ministry of the Interior has announced a series of important organizational measures to ensure the election process runs under optimal conditions. Among the most notable steps is the commencement of the distribution of voter notifications, which specify polling stations, starting Monday, August 24, 2026, and continuing until the evening of Tuesday, September 22, 2026.

What is the importance of the voter notification?

The competent authorities emphasize that the purpose of this notification is to orient the voter toward their assigned polling station, in addition to reminding them of the details of election day and working hours. However, the Ministry stressed that this notification is not a mandatory document for voting; the National Identity Card remains the only official and unique document required to prove a citizen’s identity inside the polling station.

Proxy voting for Moroccans residing abroad

Under Organic Law No. 27.11, the Ministry of the Interior attaches particular importance to Moroccans living abroad, providing them with the opportunity to exercise their constitutional right to proxy voting. For this purpose, an electronic platform will be activated from August 24, 2026, until noon on September 22, 2026.

How to register on the electronic platform for proxy voting

Voters residing abroad who wish to authorize individuals within Morocco to cast votes on their behalf must follow these steps:

1. Access the official platforms: Visit the websites www.elections.ma or www.listeselectorales.ma.

2. Enter data: Provide the personal information of both the voter and the proxy, ensuring its accuracy.

3. Confirm the proxy: The voter acknowledges the correctness of the entered information and confirms that they have performed the process personally.

4. Complete the procedures: Once finished, the voter must download a copy of the proxy and send it to the designated proxy person via email or regular mail, enabling them to cast their vote on election day on their behalf.
