Morocco Takes a Major Step in Advanced Combat Systems

Hebrew media have confirmed that Morocco has officially become a host country for facilities dedicated to testing and developing advanced combat systems, following the Kingdom’s hosting of the first live-fire test of the long-range “Anthem” cruise missile. This activity took place under the new African Multidimensional Training and Evaluation Center (AMTEC), established through a partnership between Morocco and the United States to provide a field environment for testing sophisticated military technologies. According to the “Hidabroot” website, the new center is set to become a permanent “military laboratory,” allowing the U.S., Morocco, allied nations, and defense companies to test and accelerate the development of combat systems, including cruise missiles, drones, and autonomous systems. The “Anthem” missile, developed by the Israeli-American firm Covenant, was the centerpiece of the center’s initial activities, involving engineers and military personnel in testing communication systems and flight performance. The launch of AMTEC reflects the advanced level of defense cooperation between Rabat and Washington, positioning Morocco as a key player in U.S. military training and testing infrastructure in Africa.
