The Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance, Abdellatif Hammouchi, has approved a new list of appointments to leadership positions across several decentralized services of the National Security. This move covers vital cities and security centers across the national territory, including Nador, Marrakech, Agadir, Tikiouine, Al Aroui, Safi, Oujda, Laayoune, Casablanca, Beni Mellal, Ben Guerir, Tangier, and Asilah.
Strategy for Renewing Elites and Modernizing the Police Apparatus
This comprehensive reshuffle is part of the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN)‘s ongoing efforts to inject new blood into the security institution by relying on experienced police personnel capable of keeping pace with field challenges. This dynamic aims to increase the efficiency of security agencies and their readiness for proactive engagement with various challenges, thereby ensuring the protection of citizens and their property.
These changes involved placing security officials in 20 new leadership positions, including the appointment of two heads of security districts in Agadir and Tikiouine, as well as the appointment of a head of the regional police station in Asilah and a deputy head of the security district in Marrakech.
Modernizing Field Services and Strengthening Information Systems
The appointment cycle was not limited to administrative management but extended to supporting specialized field units. Leadership of the Regional Intervention Brigade and the Tourist Police Brigade under the regional security of Nador was assigned to new officers; these services were recently established as part of developing police structures and enhancing tourist and field security.
The organizational movement also included placing officials at the head of several decentralized services concerned with public security, administrative management, and information and communication systems in Marrakech, Al Aroui, Tangier, Beni Mellal, Ben Guerir, Oujda, Casablanca, Laayoune, and Safi. These steps reinforce the concept of rotation in leadership positions and the assignment of personnel capable of implementing modern security strategies with effectiveness and transparency.
