The ‘Trump Road’ becomes a trap for travelers between Boujdour and Dakhla

Negligence threatens the safety of National Road No. 1 users
National Road number one, specifically the stretch connecting Boujdour and Dakhla, is in a disastrous state that worries travelers and truck drivers who use this strategic axis for their daily commutes. The road, which Moroccans once viewed with optimism, has turned into a series of dangerous potholes and bumps that threaten life and property.
Lack of maintenance and demands for urgent intervention
Despite the huge sums invested in this road axis, the state of decay is worsening noticeably, while the authorities responsible for road equipment maintain a suspicious silence. Many drivers, in documented video testimonials, have expressed their resentment at the current negligence, noting that the repairs carried out in some areas are nothing more than random, makeshift solutions unworthy of an artery that acts as a vital link between the north and south of the Kingdom.
The ‘Trump Road’: A strategic symbol facing neglect
It should be noted that this road axis, which stretches over 1,055 kilometers, carries significant political symbolism; it was named “Donald Trump Road” to commemorate the United States’ support for the Moroccan Sahara. King Mohammed VI described it in his historical message as a strategic axis, which doubles the responsibility of the Ministry of Equipment and the competent authorities to maintain its quality and safety.
Fruitless attempts to communicate
In an attempt to obtain clarifications regarding the measures taken to address this dire situation, all attempts to contact the Equipment Directorate in Laâyoune have failed, with the phone ringing without an answer. This reinforces a state of administrative absence in dealing with the urgent demands of citizens, which are aimed, first and foremost, at avoiding catastrophic traffic accidents that could have dire consequences.
