In a move marking an important national milestone, Bank Al-Maghrib has announced the issuance of a silver commemorative coin on the occasion of the 63rd birthday of His Majesty King Mohammed VI. This release embodies the importance the central bank places on major national occasions, documenting them on coins that reflect Morocco’s rich ancestral identity.
Coin specifications and design
The new coin features precise artistic touches, with its obverse highlighting the image of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, accompanied by the phrases “Mohammed VI” and “Kingdom of Morocco” written in Arabic and Amazigh (Tifinagh), along with the issue date of 2026 and 1448 Hijri.
On the reverse, designers have included elements symbolizing national and festive values, including a ribbon adorned with a five-pointed star, an artistic representation of the Kingdom’s emblem, and the number “63” denoting the anniversary being celebrated. It also includes traditional Moroccan motifs and the coin’s face value of 250 dirhams, written in Arabic numerals and letters, with a French translation of the historic anniversary in the upper section.
Technical specifications
Technically, this commemorative piece is crafted from an alloy consisting of 925‰ silver and 75‰ copper. It has been designed with a weight of 28.28 grams and a diameter of 38.61 millimeters, giving it a physical presence worthy of its value as a collector’s item for those interested in documenting the Kingdom’s historical milestones.
