Urgent: Moroccan security warning for Android users: Update Firefox immediately to avoid critical vulnerabilities

The General Directorate for Information Systems Security (DGSSI), under the National Defense Administration, has issued an urgent security warning to all users of smartphones running the Android operating system in Morocco, calling on them to perform an immediate update of the Firefox browser to fix security vulnerabilities that could lead to their devices being compromised.

Details of the security warning and potential risks

In a recent alert bulletin, the Directorate explained that the latest update released by Mozilla is designed to address a series of software flaws and vulnerabilities classified as “critical.” These could be exploited by attackers and cybercriminals to take control of devices, access users’ personal data, or spy on them remotely.

The same sources confirmed that non-updated browsers remain susceptible to attacks targeting “malicious code execution,” which poses a direct threat to the privacy of Moroccan users and the security of their banking and financial data stored on their phones.

Urgent measures to protect your smartphone

The Moroccan Directorate for Information Systems Security called on the public and institutions to go immediately to the Google Play Store to update the Firefox application to the latest available version, emphasizing the need to enable the “automatic update” feature for apps to avoid falling victim to future vulnerabilities.

This warning comes within the framework of constant digital vigilance exercised by the Kingdom’s competent authorities to protect the national digital space and to implement a strategy to enhance cybersecurity for both individuals and national institutions.
