Akhannouch: Al Haouz witnesses a major development dynamic in line with Royal directives

A radical transformation in the strategy for dealing with the aftermath of the Al Haouz earthquake
In a move reflecting the new approach of the Moroccan government, the Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, affirmed from the heart of Imlil that efforts are no longer limited to overcoming the effects of the earthquake, but have shifted towards establishing sustainable development aimed at fundamentally changing the province’s face and improving the quality of life for its residents.
Beyond relief: Structural projects that prioritize people
The Head of Government explained that government action, in line with the High Royal Directives, has turned the earthquake’s repercussions into a real opportunity to launch major projects that go beyond temporary measures. Akhannouch highlighted the unprecedented acceleration in the health, education, and housing sectors, focusing on reducing regional disparities that have long hindered development in these mountainous areas.
Figures reflecting the scale of achievements
Regarding housing, official data reveals that reconstruction and rehabilitation operations cover over 50,000 homes, alongside continuous financial support for 60,000 families. In the education sector, the government is working against the clock to complete the rehabilitation and construction of all damaged schools by the end of the year, while strengthening the network of local hospitals to ensure decent healthcare services.
Ending isolation and supporting the local economy
Efforts extend beyond infrastructure to supporting the agricultural sector and rebuilding national livestock. Akhannouch pointed to a budget of approximately 700 million dirhams allocated for road equipment to ensure effective connectivity and encourage investment. Additionally, direct social support stands as a key pillar, currently benefiting nearly 300,000 people in the province.
A reassuring message to the people of Al Haouz
The Head of Government concluded his meeting with a strong and direct message to the residents of the province, asserting that the government will continue to support them and will not abandon them in their development path, stating: “We have never forgotten you… and whatever happens, count on us, we will be by your side,” emphasizing that “sincerity and seriousness” are the common denominator in the ongoing field work in the region.
