Mohammed V Airport: Two French nationals arrested after fatal accident in Marrakech and escape attempt

In a precise security operation, officers at the Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca, in close coordination with security services in Marrakech, successfully apprehended two French nationals, aged 26 and 28, on Saturday, August 15.
This swift intervention follows suspicions that the individuals, a man and a woman, were involved in a serious fatal traffic accident followed by a hit-and-run, including attempts to destroy evidence and mislead the Moroccan justice system.
Details of the crime and the escape attempt
The incident occurred when the suspects caused a severe accident while driving a passenger vehicle in the streets of Marrakech. The tragic collision resulted in the immediate death of a motorcyclist and left the passenger with serious injuries.
A video, widely circulated on instant messaging apps, documented the criminal act, sparking widespread public outrage, especially after the suspects fled the scene in a second vehicle in a desperate attempt to evade accountability.
Tightened security at Casablanca Airport
Thanks to intensive field and technical investigations by the relevant security services, the identities and movements of the suspects were precisely identified.
These efforts culminated in the interception of the suspects as they attempted to leave the country via a flight from Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca, effectively foiling their escape plan.
Ongoing judicial investigation
The detainees have been placed under judicial investigation, supervised by the Judicial Police of Marrakech and under the authority of the competent public prosecutor.
The investigation aims to uncover all the circumstances surrounding the case and to identify all criminal acts attributed to the suspects before they are brought before the court.
