Guercif Province: Ongoing efforts to repair flood damage in Barkine and secure traffic

Guercif Province – The commune of Barkine in the Guercif province has been witnessing intensive field operations since Friday evening, aimed at containing and repairing the severe damage caused by recent thunderstorms, which led to a sudden rise in water levels and swept away several vehicles.
Urgent interventions and vehicle recovery
According to exclusive data available, joint intervention teams have succeeded in extracting all vehicles that were swept by the strong floods into the riverbed. Thanks to the rapid response of field teams, no loss of human life has been recorded, while work continues unabated to clear mud and sediment and reopen damaged road sections to traffic.
Comprehensive mobilization of local authorities and logistics
The intervention operations saw a significant presence of local authorities, alongside elements of the Royal Gendarmerie, Auxiliary Forces, and the President of the Barkine Communal Council, all of whom oversaw the field coordination of efforts to end isolation in affected areas and repair damaged infrastructure.
To ensure the success of these relief operations, significant logistics were deployed, including bulldozers belonging to the Guercif provincial prefecture and the Barkine communal administration, supported by ambulances to ensure rapid intervention and provide necessary support to the local population.
Continued vigilance and protection of citizens’ property
Field sources confirm that mobilization will continue in the region until all repair and remediation works are completed. Constant monitoring of weather conditions remains in place to take all proactive preventive measures to protect the safety of citizens and their property throughout the province.
