Police officer suspended in Marrakech over suspected financial irregularities involving a detainee

The General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) has recently decided to suspend a police officer tasked with guarding individuals in police custody. This decision follows an administrative investigation opened by the competent authorities at the Marrakech Police Prefecture, regarding suspected professional misconduct linked to the retrieval of a sum of money from the vehicle of a detainee.

According to available reports, the incident occurred last Sunday while the officer was performing her routine duties. A woman held in custody requested that the officer go to her vehicle, parked near the Menara Gardens, to retrieve 8,000 dirhams, which the detainee claimed was intended to pay bail for her legal case.

The same sources indicate that the officer had obtained prior authorization from her supervisor before leaving her post. She proceeded to the vehicle and retrieved some items requested by the detainee, along with the aforementioned money. Security services have launched a thorough administrative investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the incident and to assign the necessary legal and administrative responsibilities.
