Thwarting the movements of an internationally wanted individual at Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca

As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen international security cooperation and pursue those involved in cross-border crimes, elements of the National Security at Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca successfully arrested a 20-year-old French national of Algerian origin on Thursday morning, October 8th.

The arrest followed a check of the suspect through the database of the International Criminal Police Organization «Interpol». It was revealed that he is the subject of an international arrest warrant issued by the French judicial authorities, at the request of the National Central Bureau in Paris, for his suspected involvement in a case related to drug trafficking and psychotropic substances.

Legal procedures for the extradition of the concerned party

Available information indicates that the suspect has been subjected to extradition procedures ordered by the competent Public Prosecutor’s Office. In the same context, the National Central Bureau «Interpol Rabat», affiliated with the General Directorate of National Security, was tasked with notifying its French counterpart of the arrest, in accordance with the established extradition procedure.

This precise security intervention reflects the great importance that Moroccan security services attach to fulfilling international commitments related to combating organized crime and strengthening the bonds of international security cooperation to limit the movements of individuals wanted internationally for serious cases.
