Financial crisis threatens Kenyan embassy in Rabat; urgent parliamentary moves

Kenyan Member of Parliament Yusuf Hassan has called on his country’s government to settle the financial status of the Nairobi embassy in the Moroccan capital, Rabat, and pay its outstanding dues, which amount to approximately twenty-three million Kenyan shillings.
These calls follow a report issued by the Defense, Intelligence, and Foreign Relations Committee of the Kenyan National Assembly, which revealed financial and logistical challenges facing the diplomatic mission.
The parliamentary report explained that the embassy is operating with fewer human resources than allocated, with four vacancies out of fifteen positions defined by the Kenyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In contrast, Korir Sing’oei, Principal Secretary at the Kenyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, denied that there are any difficulties hindering the mission’s work, asserting that it is fully equipped and working to achieve tangible diplomatic gains in the Kingdom.
