The Public Prosecution at the Court of First Instance in Midelt decided, on Friday, September 25, to remand the President of the Melab Municipality, in the Errachidia province, to the local prison in Midelt. This follows an ongoing judicial investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding the death of a young woman in a hotel in the city a few days ago.
According to available information, the decision to hold the individual in custody came after he was placed under police supervision by order of the competent public prosecutor, to deepen the investigation into the circumstances surrounding this incident.
The municipal president, who is a member of the Popular Movement party, had surrendered himself to security authorities, who initiated a judicial inquiry under the supervision of the Public Prosecution to determine responsibilities and the precise details of what occurred.
